Power, Batteries and the On/Off Cable

Stratux needs at least 2 amps

Use a USB source that delivers 2 A or more and a short, good-quality cable. 1 A phone chargers, laptop ports and some aircraft USB ports can’t keep up; the result looks like a software problem (reboots, dropped Wi-Fi, blinking red light).

Battery or aircraft power

  • The included battery runs the Stratux for 4+ hours (6+ hours on the External GPS model).
  • Longer flights: a larger power bank with a 2 A+ output, or one of our power supplies.
  • Aircraft power: use a quality 12 V/28 V-to-USB adapter rated for 2 A or more.

Unplug the Stratux during engine start. Voltage spikes during cranking can damage it.

Protect the power port

The micro-USB power port is the part that wears out most. Repeated plugging and sideways strain on the cable loosen it. Our USB cable with an on/off switch and a 90° connector takes the strain off the port and lets you switch the unit off without unplugging it.

If the unit only powers on when you press on the cable, the port needs a hardware fix. See Warranty and repairs.
