The Stratux Removable External GPS gives you a flexible mounting option — run the antenna cable to the best position for sky view while keeping the Stratux unit wherever is convenient. Includes VK-162 WAAS GPS puck with USB connection.

  • Stratux external GPS puck with USB connector and extension wire
  • Removable/repositionable antenna placement
  • WAAS-enabled — compatible with all Raspberry Pi 3B/3B+ Stratux builds
  • Ideal for metal aircraft, or when the Stratux unit is mounted out of direct sky view

FAQ

Q: My order is missing the pigtail adapter / cable — how do I connect the GPS to my Stratux?
A: The external GPS puck connects to the Stratux via a u.FL pigtail adapter (u.FL to SMA connector). This should be included in your order. If it’s missing, please contact us — we’ll ship the correct part at no charge. This was a known packaging issue that we have corrected. A u.FL to SMA female pigtail is also widely available on Amazon as an immediate backup.

Q: Will this interfere with my compass?
A: Yes, if mounted too close. Keep at least 12 inches from your magnetic compass. Mount on the glareshield, kneeboard, or side window.

Q: Do I need this if I already have an internal GPS?
A: Not usually. The internal GPS works well in most composite aircraft. This module is useful when the Stratux is mounted in a position with poor sky view (metal cockpit, bag mounting, under-panel install).
