Quick Start: Your Crew Dog Stratux

Your Stratux arrives assembled, tested and loaded with the Stratux software. Here’s how to go from box to first flight.

1. Attach the antennas

Screw each antenna onto its matching port (978 and 1090). Hand-tighten only. Pliers or a wrench can break the small cables inside.

2. Power it on

Plug the included battery into the Stratux with the included cable. Any other source must deliver at least 2 amps. Wait for a solid green light, which takes a minute or two.

3. Let the GPS find itself (first time only)

Take the unit outside with the logo side facing the sky and leave it on for 10 to 20 minutes. After this first fix, later startups are much faster.

4. Join the Wi-Fi network

On your iPad, iPhone or Android tablet, join the stratux Wi-Fi network. Stay connected even if the device says there’s no internet.

5. Open your EFB app

Open your app (for example one compatible with ForeFlight®, FltPlan Go, Avare or iFly). It detects Stratux automatically. To check the receiver itself, open 192.168.10.1 in a browser. Garmin Pilot works on iPad and iPhone only; see the full app list.

What to expect on your first flight

  • No weather on the ground is normal. Weather comes from ground stations by line of sight and usually appears around 1,000 ft AGL near a station.
  • 1090 MHz traffic works on the ground; traffic relayed by ground stations generally needs altitude.
  • Mount it with the logo side up and a clear view of the sky. See Mounting your Stratux.
